Description
Are you looking for something special? Then come and have a look at this beautiful monumental corner house on this prime location of the canal belt in the center of town. A spacious 4-storey upper house of 200 m2 with its private entrance, 5 rooms and a roof terrace, well laid out and stylishly finished.
More information and a video can be found at spuistraat240A. nl
The building was almost entirely rebuilt in 1991, whereby the original facade with bell-shaped top with roller layers from around 1785 has been retained. The foundation, construction and piping are therefore relatively new and solid. Sustainable insulation has also been thought of, the exterior facades are insulated and the frames are fitted with double windows and/or insulating glass. In 2009, the entire house was renovated under architecture.
History
The entrance is located on the Schoorsteenvegerssteeg behind a lockable entrance gate. The alley itself has a rich history and is named after the chimney sweep families who lived here for over 3 centuries until the 20th century. These families originally came from the Valle Vigezzo, a valley in Piedmont in northern Italy. The first families came here in the seventeenth century and lived throughout the city. In this alley between the Singel and the Spuistraat (the former Nieuwezijds Achterburgwal), at least one family of chimney sweeps has always lived during those almost 3 centuries.
Environment
Located within the canal belt of the center, you are in the middle of Unesco World Heritage. Between all those monumental canal houses, idyllic bridges and canals you will find the most beautiful shops in, for example, the 9 Streets, the grand cafés and terraces on the Spui and the best restaurants. Only a few minutes' walk from the Jordaan, the pleasant working-class neighborhood with many galleries and the weekly organic market on the Noordermarkt. The better schools and nurseries can also be found here.
The Central Station and Rokin metro station are within walking distance, making it an ideal location for commuting outside (the center) of Amsterdam.
Parking through permit system. Permit owners are allowed to park in the parking garage De Kolk nearby. There are also possibilities to park in the parking garage of the NH hotel, a couple of doors down the street.
Layout:
The apartment has its own, spacious entrance on the ground floor, located in the Schoorsteenvegerssteeg. The Schoorsteenvegerssteeg is closed off from the Spuistraat with a gate (which can be opened automatically at a distance), giving you a quiet and very safe access to the apartment. And, your bicycle can also be parked safely.
The first floor has a spacious landing with possibilities for, for example, a play or hobby room, various fitted wardrobes, the meter cupboard and a toilet with a hand basin. At the front is a bedroom (approx. 16 m2) over the entire width of the building. At the rear is a bedroom (approx. 9 m2) with a balcony (7 m2). Between the two bedrooms on the first floor is a (first) bathroom with shower.
The entire second floor consists of the large living room with an open dining room and an open kitchen (45m2), equipped with built-in appliances and accessible from the lockable landing. The kitchen cupboards doors need replacement, for that the seller is willing to contribute!
The large master bedroom (28m2) is located on the third floor at the front. In the middle part you will find a spacious walk-in closet, which also gives access to the (second bathroom) at the rear of this floor. The bathroom has a bath, a separate shower and a toilet. Via an open staircase you reach the fourth floor.
On the fourth floor you will find a nice office with air conditioning. Here are also two separate areas with the central heating boiler and the washing machine connection. The wonderful final piece is the large roof terrace located on the sunny south (approx. 21 m2).
There is a video intercom system on each floor, with which both the gate on Spuistraat and the front door of the apartment on Schoorsteenvegerssteeg can be viewed and opened separately.
