After the deal is confirmed by the landlord, the tenant will apply for the huisvestingsvergunning as soon as possible. Once the huisvestingsvergunning is approved, the contract can start within 2 working days. In the meanwhile, the landlord will keep the apartment reserved for the tenant. It is not allowed to withdraw from the deal by both parties without financial consequences (depending on personal situation from counterparty). Usually it takes 2 to 3 weeks for the huisvestingsvergunning to be approved by the municipality of Amsterdam.
